About Tim mcmichael

Assistant Coach

“I started pole vaulting when I was five years old, just by picking up a stick and jumping over stuff. Over the next few decades, I saw the world. Won some pretty big meets and competed in some even bigger ones. No matter where I was or what was on the line, I never really stopped being that little kid running at a fence with a stick. As a coach, I have been privileged to work with so many amazing athletes and outstanding people. I have devoted the last three decades to giving back to this sport that has given so much to me, and I plan to continue doing so as long as I am able.”

  • Tim’s approach is taking the vault one step at a time. He focuses on nailing down one specific thing before moving on to another. This results in a really strong foundation and the vault turning into muscle memory.

  • Tim is known for his sharp technical eye and his ability to break down even the smallest details of an athlete’s jump. He’s incredibly encouraging, but he also challenges athletes by rebuilding their fundamentals in a way that leads to bigger, long‑term improvements. His thoughtful, analytical approach helps athletes understand why each adjustment matters.
